Enriching the global projection of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), two outstanding academics have become references in their respective areas, contributing not only to institutional growth but also to the formation of future generations of professionals.
Dr. Hermann Manríquez, an expert in Environmental Management, Landscape and Geography, has assumed a relevant position as President of the Geography Commission of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), a specialized entity of the Organization of American States (OAS). This role has allowed him to establish ties with various universities and research centers in the Americas, enriching his teaching and providing students with exceptional international opportunities.
On the other hand, Dr. Sergio Palma, a specialist in Biological Oceanography, is the founder and editor of the Latin American Journal of Aquatic Research (LAJAR), a leading publication in marine sciences and aquaculture in Latin America. His outstanding work in the journal has positioned PUCV on the international map, being requested by researchers from Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile, which has strengthened the projection of the university abroad.
The prestige achieved by these academics has reinforced the reputation of the PUCV at a global level, attracting the attention of colleagues and students from different latitudes. The maximum accreditation granted by the National Accreditation Commission to the PUCV further validates its impact in the international arena, facilitating its participation in commissions, institutional visits and relevant speeches.
As part of the PUCV community, we are proud to have academics of this magnitude, whose dedication, knowledge and experience enrich both the education of our students and the development of knowledge in Chile and Latin America. We will continue to move forward together to maintain the prestige and academic excellence that characterizes us.
