Framework Cooperation Agreement (MOU)

It is an expression of the will of the parties to develop and promote cooperative actions in areas of mutual interest and benefit. Specific agreements are derived from this agreement to regulate specific activities.

  • Establishes the basis for institutional cooperation
  • Facilitates the development of joint projects
  • Promotes academic and cultural exchange

Its purpose is to carry out student academic exchange activities, at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, in a reciprocal manner and defining conditions, contents, resources, and operational modalities of implementation.

Specific Teacher Exchange Agreement (CEMP)

Its purpose is to carry out teacher exchange activities and/or research activities, in a reciprocal manner and defining conditions, contents, resources, and operational modalities of implementation.

Double degree and/or dual degree agreement

Defines the terms of collaboration that regulate a Double Degree agreement between the counterpart institution and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.

Doctoral thesis co-supervision agreement

It is the result of a study carried out under the co-supervision regime leading to the award of two academic doctoral degrees granted by two national or international institutions.

UNESCO Chairs

What are UNESCO Chairs?

 

UNESCO Chairs are part of UNESCO’s UNITWIN Program, an international network that promotes academic cooperation, research, and knowledge exchange among higher education institutions. Through these chairs, PUCV contributes to the development of cutting-edge knowledge and the strengthening of international networks in areas of global relevance.

UNESCO Chair in Reading and Writing

 

Established in 1996 through an agreement between UNESCO, the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, the University of Buenos Aires, and the University of the Valley, this chair promotes research, training, and international cooperation in reading, writing, and mother tongue education, contributing to the improvement of the quality and equity of education in Latin America.

UNESCO Chair in Restoration and Conservation of Heritage Structures

 

Established in 2019 and led by the PUCV School of Construction Engineering, this chair is the first of its kind in Chile. Its work focuses on promoting an integrated system of research, education, information, and documentation regarding heritage protection and restoration. It fosters collaboration among academics and researchers at the University and other institutions in Chile, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe.

UNESCO Chair in Environmental Engineering

 

Formally established in 1994 by the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and the University of Cantabria—with collaborative efforts dating back to 1992—this chair was the first of its kind in Latin America. It promotes research, continuing education, and international cooperation in environmental engineering, waste management, water quality, and sustainability, contributing to the development of solutions for contemporary environmental challenges.
