PUCV's Director General of International Affairs Participated in the QS Higher Ed Summit: Americas in Mexico

Orlando de la Vega, Director General of International Affairs at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV), participated in the QS Higher Ed Summit: Americas, an international conference held in Guadalajara, Mexico, that brought together university officials, government representatives, and education sector experts to address the main challenges facing higher education in the region.

Organized by QS Quacquarelli Symonds and hosted by the Universidad Panamericana, the event brought together more than 500 participants from 28 countries, serving as a forum for sharing experiences, analyzing trends, and fostering opportunities for collaboration among institutions of higher education.

During the conference, topics related to university internationalization, student mobility, innovation, artificial intelligence, employability, and the strengthening of strategic partnerships were discussed. In addition, the challenges faced by Latin American universities in increasing their presence and competitiveness on the international stage were analyzed.

Under the theme “Human-centered, purpose-driven,” the event placed special emphasis on the role of universities as agents of social transformation and on the importance of strengthening cooperation among academic institutions, governments, and the private sector.

Orlando de la Vega’s participation in this event is part of the PUCV’s international outreach efforts, which are aimed at strengthening its presence in global academic networks and expanding opportunities for cooperation with institutions in various countries.

The meeting provided new insights into the future of higher education and the trends that are transforming international collaboration—areas that are relevant to the development of the University’s internationalization strategy.
