The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso hosted a conference entitled "Second Language Acquisition in Adults: Theories and Current State of the Art", given by the academic Fanny Forsberg Lundell, from the University of Stockholm, Sweden. The event, held in the Auditorium of the Institute of Literature and Language Sciences (ILCL), brought together students, teachers and researchers interested in foreign language learning.

The presentation was given by René Venegas, Director of the Spanish Center of the General Directorate of International Affairs of the PUCV (CELE-DGAI). During her presentation, Forsberg Lundell shared the results of her research with French and Swedish speakers, exploring the cognitive and social processes involved in second language acquisition in adults. Among the topics highlighted, the academic addressed factors such as cultural interaction, learning strategies and the impact of the linguistic context on learning success.
This event, organized by the UNESCO Chair at PUCV, the ILCL and the Centro de Español Lengua Extranjera-DGAI, provided attendees with the opportunity to learn about an interdisciplinary perspective that combines linguistics, psychology and education. It also generated a space for discussion on the opportunities and challenges of learning languages in a globalized world.
