The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso is pleased to announce the launching of the book entitled "Utopia and Marginality: Habitability on the Margin of Valparaíso", written by the Doctor of Architecture and Professor of the School of Architecture and Design of our institution, Mr. Jorge Ferrada Herrera. This event was held at the Center for Advanced Studies and Extension of the PUCV and was attended by distinguished academics, professors and distinguished guests.

Among the guests of honor, we highlight the presence of Mr. José Patricio Brickle, Ambassador of Chile in Syria, Mr. Michael O'Shaughnessy, Ambassador of New Zealand in Chile, Mr. Orlando de la Vega Luna, General Director of International Affairs of the PUCV, and Mr. Juan Carlos Jeldes, Director of the School of Architecture and Design of the PUCV.

The book "Utopía y Marginalidad: Habitabilidad en el Margen de Valparaíso" is part of the prestigious collection Tesis de Ediciones e[ad] and represents an exceptional contribution to the field of architecture. The work dives into the concept of utopia, exploring the notion of architecture as a singularity that aspires to become a pure place. In this context, the book is inspired by the city of Valparaíso, where architecture is influenced by a deep rootedness to tradition and site.

The author, Jorge Ferrada Herrera, is a recognized expert in the field of architecture and his work represents a valuable contribution to the reflection on the role of architecture in the creation of utopian and habitable spaces in marginal environments, such as those often found in Valparaíso.

The General Directorate of International Affairs of the PUCV congratulates Professor Jorge Ferrada Herrera for this outstanding contribution to academic literature and thanks all those present for their support to the dissemination of culture and critical thinking in our community.
