The General Director of International Affairs of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), Professor Orlando de la Vega Luna, participated in the International Meeting on the project "CROSS-BORDER CROSSING OF SECURE DATA" that took place on September 27, 2024 at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, in the city of Mendoza, Argentina. This important event brought together academic and government authorities and private sector representatives from both sides of the border to discuss the implementation of the digital interoperability project between Chile and Argentina through the Los Libertadores/Horcones crossing.
During the meeting, key issues such as digital transformation in the province of Cuyo, the challenges of interoperability and digital identity, and the impact of digital transformation on universities were discussed. The day also included a panel discussion on the challenges and benefits of creating a system that facilitates the safe and efficient movement of goods and people across borders, leveraging digital trust.
Professor de la Vega, representing PUCV, was part of the Technical Activity on Digital Transformation in Universities, where he highlighted the advances in digitalization and the university's commitment to cross-border collaboration to promote innovation and technological development in the region. This participation strengthens the ties between the higher education institutions of both countries and opens new opportunities for cooperation in the field of digital transformation and student mobility.
The event culminated with the presentation of the inter-university agreements and a closing session in which the results of the meeting were summarized, underlining the importance of setting common objectives to advance in the implementation of the "CROSS-BORDER SECURE DATA PASS", a project that promises to optimize the relationship between Chile and Argentina in terms of commercial exchange and flow of people.
