The General Director of International Affairs of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), Professor Orlando de la Vega Luna; the Director of International Projects, Ignacio Bahamonde; and Professor Emeritus Kamel Harire Seda, represented our University at the 28th General Assembly of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC), held in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The IFCU, which brings together more than 240 institutions of higher education from the five continents, brought together university authorities, academics and experts to reflect on the role of Catholic universities in the face of global challenges. The meeting took place in a framework of international dialogue, addressing how these institutions can integrate academic rigor with values such as ethics, social justice and the promotion of the common good.
During the conference, there were keynote lectures, working groups and networking spaces that favored the exchange of experiences and best practices. One of the highlights was the conference "Academic Diplomacy", given by Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Holy See, who stressed the importance of the role of Catholic universities in building peace, intercultural understanding and strengthening international cooperation.
