Working Meeting between PUCV, JICA, AGCID and Senapred

The Director of International Projects of the General Directorate of International Affairs of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), Ignacio Bahamonde, together with the Director of the Institute of Geography of the PUCV, Hermann Manríquez, and the academics responsible for the diploma course, met with Yuji Misu, the new Chief Advisor of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the framework of the Kizuna II program and the Tsunami Diploma in the coast of Latin America and the Caribbean. During the meeting, Misu had the opportunity to visit the PUCV facilities.

At this meeting, a summary of the Tsunami 2024 Diploma Course was presented, which is part of the "Building Resilience and Sustainable Societies in the Face of Disasters in Latin America and the Caribbean Project". This diploma course seeks to train professionals in the region in the understanding of tsunamis, their threat and vulnerability, and in the strengthening of warning and emergency response systems. In addition, the progress and results obtained in the 2024 edition of the course were discussed.
