PUCV welcomes international students for SUMMER 2-2025 program

The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), through its Directorate General of International Affairs (DGAI), officially launched the SUMMER 2-2025 program, which this year welcomes 19 international students from the United States, Norway, France and Russia.

During their stay at the university, participants will strengthen their Spanish language skills and integrate into Chilean culture through classes, activities and tours of the city of Valparaíso. Classes will be taught by the Center for Spanish as a Foreign Language (CELE DGAI) of the PUCV, with a communicative and cultural approach adapted to the different levels of the students.

The inaugural event took place at the University's Central House and included a welcoming ceremony and a guided tour of the heritage building. At the event, the Director General of International Affairs, Orlando de la Vega Luna, and the Director of Academic Exchange, Ivania Yáñez, offered words of welcome to the students, highlighting the role of these programs in the international projection of the University.

The new participants also attended an orientation talk given by student counselor Silvana Aravena, who addressed key issues related to safety, health and relevant aspects for their adaptation during their stay. Afterwards, the academic language coordinator, Esperanza Godoy, gave an introductory presentation on the particularities of Spanish in Chile.

The day ended with a heritage tour of the city of Valparaíso, marking the beginning of an academic, linguistic and cultural immersion experience that seeks to strengthen ties between the PUCV and its international partner institutions.
