The General Directorate of International Affairs of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) held an in-person workshop for students who are preparing for an exchange program in the second semester of 2024. The main objective of this workshop was to provide them with content focused on the understanding of the typologies of cultural differences and the process of social adaptation and practical everyday life experienced during the stay abroad.
This activity focused on preparing exchange students emotionally, addressing topics such as adapting to a new environment, stress and anxiety management, affective communication with people from different cultures, and dealing with loneliness and homesickness. This workshop also provided them with practical tools and guidelines for their arrival and stay abroad and advice on responsibility and self-care.
The General Directorate of International Affairs of the PUCV prepares its students for the various situations they may encounter during their exchanges. This initiative is part of the ongoing work to provide an increasingly better support service to students, preparing them for cultural transition and academic, social and personal success in this experience of mobility abroad.
With this comprehensive preparation, PUCV reaffirms its commitment to the internationalization of education and the development of intercultural competencies in its students, thus contributing to their formation as global citizens.
