PUCV receives the visit of the Ambassador of Finland

The central house of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso was the setting in which the rector of the university, Nelson Vásquez, received the visit of the ambassador of Finland, Johanna Kotkajärvi.

On the occasion, and after Rector Vasquez explained the challenges facing the university on its way to its centennial, both teams exchanged views on topics of interest that will allow closer cooperation in areas such as education, startups, innovation, circular economy and the environment.

The meeting is part of the efforts made by the university to strengthen its internationalization through various initiatives. "The university is in a very intense program to strengthen international networks, through this General Directorate, which will become the Vice-Rectory of International Relations," he explained. Another line of action in this regard is to strengthen links with research centers in other universities, in order to promote the doctoral programs offered by the university.

In the same direction, the mastery of English has been strengthened in undergraduate courses, thanks to an agreement with the University of Cambridge, which provides development tools for its students, for example, to carry out student exchanges.

"As the command of this language is strengthened in undergraduate studies, students will have more possibilities to travel to Anglo-Saxon countries," said the highest authority of the PUCV, who stressed that this type of experience is "positive for students, because of what cultural exchange means". "We are convinced that we are moving in a global world," he said.
